PEDAL EFFECT HACKING RESOURCES

Hey y'all! This is a "compilation point" I'm putting up where I'll try to have any necessary resources for ZOOM multi-FX effect "hacking" (effect interchange between models, and/or custom effect installation) available and as up to date as I can.

WHAT APP SHOULD I USE TO INSTALL/UNINSTALL EFFECTS?

NOW, SIMPLER THAN EVER. Just use Zoom Effect Manager for any of these models:
It also packs effects from models G6/G11/B6 to add to your Four/n models.

So, both the G/MultiStomp/on models and the Four models are supported by a single (brilliant!) tool now (since 2025-MAY-16). Not only you can add/remove effects from/to any model of the same generation, but you can even flash the whole firmware from another model to convert it, given hardware is the same. I've done it and it works like a charm, my MS-60B is now an MS-50G, 6 effect slots and all (also have tested MS-70CDR firmware in it no problem).

Finally, here's my ultra condensed "hybrid" bass/guitar FX selections (.zem files for Zoom Effect Manager) for the devices I own, either with their own firmware or with any other firmware ZEM could let me install on them; it literally can convert a device to another model as long as hardware is the same. My effect selections are oriented at having all you'd need for guitar AND bass in one device. DYN/FILTER/AMP/CAB/DRIVE categories are denser while I've kept the MOD/SFX/REV/DLY categories more minimalistic (simply out of my pure taste and needs). There's NO CUSTOM EFFECTS (no NAM/IR either) in these effect selections, only standard effects from the different Zoom models. You gotta' do custom FX yourself. Just configure ZDL/ZD2 folders in Zoom Effect Manager, download custom ZDL/ZD2 files there and it'll recognize and let you install them.

    • CUSTOM EFFECTS / NAM / IR

    Here's a list of resources for custom effects and the ways to create your own, including NAM A2 Lite and IR captures:

    ZoomMultistompZDL: the first project doing all the reverse engineering of ZDL files. Several custom effects there to download too.

    Roman Rusinov's fork: includes many effects to download, plus some awesome online tools to create NAM and IR captures and compile them into your own ZDLs files. There's also a smoking browser based patch editor.

    HYBRID-IR (Alex Leemuzhko): creates DSP efficient stereo IR+QB with 4 captures per ZDL, lots of flexibility to mix between them. Many effects to download too.

    NAM on MultiStomp+: NAM for latest MultiStomp+ (plus) models, by Aleksandar Vukašinović.
